Aberdeen City

I have seen these guys before. They were the first third of the Sound Team, Elefant show at the Black Cat in May. Did they play the following song? Was I smoking crack? I remember not being that impressed with Aberdeen City or Elefant; Sound Team kind of stole the show. But, Aberdeen City's three song EP, Another Seven Years is pretty good and it makes me wonder if I have even heard these songs before. Parts evoke Secret Machines, and other moments conjure Editors.

Our first introduction didn't go well and I can't blame them. Sound Team had just finished a great set that caught me off guard and Aberdeen City walked out of a traffic jam and onto the stage. Literally. Not the best of circumstances. I will have to continue to evaluate Another Seven Years, but I the initial listen shows promise. They are playing the Black Cat with Electric Six and The Blue Van on September 23rd. Tour dates follow...
