Once labeled as alt-country, Brooklyn's The National cast that genre aside for good with their critically-acclaimed release Alligator last year. Chock full of angular, arty riffs that defied a pidgeon-holed sound, Alligator won over everyone from Pitchfork to Billboard. Creative lyrics and frenzied guitars aside, there are not many people as good on the kit as drummer Bryan Devendorf. Their live show at the Black Cat earlier this year raised a bar for Metro D that has not been eclipsed by an indie band to this date. Their amazing live presence will grace the Black Cat once more this year on October 26th.
