JK's Favorite Albums and Songs of 2006

Tis the season for lists so I'm going to throw my picks into the mix. This is by no means what I would call a Top Ten because everyone's opinion is different. These are my favorite albums and songs of the year; some mainstream, some not so much. As anyone who reads this blog can attest, we certainly do not skew towards one particular genre (indie) or way of life ("hipster"). Most, if not all of these albums and songs have been mentioned numerous times on this site so I'm not going to explain each in detail.

Albums:

11. What Made Milwaukee Famous - Trying to Never Catch Up
10. Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
9. Peter Bjorn and John - Writer's Block
8. Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
7. White Whale - WWI
6. Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
5. Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime EP
4. The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine
3. Priestess - Hello Master
2. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
1. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain

* Also getting votes: Wolfmother, Midlake, the Hold Steady, Beck, ¡Forward, Russia!, ...Trail of Dead, Tool, the Kooks, the Decemberists, the Black Keys, Hot Chip.

Songs:

10. Tokyo Police Club - "Nature of the Experiment"
9. Tool - "Vicarious"
8. Band of Horses - "The Funeral"
7. Heavens - "Patent Pending"
6. Midlake - "Young Bride"
5. Peter Bjorn and John - "Young Folks"
4. Silversun Pickups - "Lazy Eye"
3. The Thermals - "Pillar of Salt"
2. Muse - "Map of the Problematique"
1. TV on the Radio - "Wolf Like Me"

More to come from InMyTree, he has the keen ability to turn these posts into works of art whereas I tend to be lazier about it.
