I'm actually very pleased with the results from last night. I couldn't be happier that "Falling Slowly" won and it was a smart move by the show to allow Marketa back out to give a speech. Very well done. What shocked me the most however was during the montage of the previous 79 winners for Best Picture. Just look at this ten year stretch:
1969: Midnight Cowboy
1970: Patton
1971: The French Connection
1972: The Godfather
1973: The Sting
1974: The Godfather Part II
1975: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
1976: Rocky (Over Taxi Driver and Network)
1977: Annie Hall
1978: The Deer Hunter
And now the last ten years:
2006: The Departed
2005: Crash
2004: Million Dollar Baby
2003: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
2002: Chicago
2001: A Beautiful Mind
2000: Gladiator
1999: American Beauty
1998: Shakespeare in Love
1997: Titanic
Holy crap, what slap in the face. What happened?? NF, is there something you can do about this please? Thanks.

Working on it. Every day. Every night. Cormac was the coolest motherfucker in the place last night, and I didn't even watch it. I just imagine that was how it went. To adjust one of my favorite Jon Stewart lines ever: Diablo Cody 1, Terrence Malick 0.
